This is that treacherous time of night when the monsters come out to play, and those monsters happen to be mostly Japanese players who are really really good at the game, especially at prediction. Your moves and strategies will always be the ones most ill-suited to take them on, and whatever you think of, they’re one step ahead already. What really threw me off was that these were conventional OU Pokémon with moves I don’t normally would imagine Smogon suggesting. The Focus Sash is quickly becoming a favorite on Infernape, it seems. And with Swampert, I typically think Waterfall, Avalanche, Earthquake and the like–Bellossom is equipped to handle physical threats, so Swampert is something Bellossom can normally take on just fine. But not Swamperts who apparently pack Ice Beam and Earth Power, presumably among other moves. When Scizor appeared, I knew I was a goner–a Swampert with Earth Power means a Scizor on that team will almost certainly have Bullet Punch. I used Masquerain, Bellossom, Plusle, and Minun. My opponent used Infernape, Swampert, Scizor, and an unknown fourth Pokémon. (Did I get the spelling for Swampert’s Japanese name right?
